Three frat boys were arrested in connection with the rape of a 19-year-old physiotherapy student after a house party in Vivek Vihar area in East Delhi. The two accused are the victim’s schoolmates. Police said one more person involved in the crime is on the run.
According to police, the accused — identified as Akash, Jatin Goswami and Rohit — were arrested from the same area after a complaint lodged by the victim on April 2. The fourth accused, identified as Raman, is still absconding and teams have been constituted to arrest him.
On April 1, the victim was called to a party thrown by her friend Akash at his house in Farsh Bazar area in East Delhi. The victim told police that when she reached the place, Akash and Jatin were present while Rohit and Raman joined them later. Police said after consuming alcohol, the frat boy groupie allegedly took turns to rape the hapless girl all the while holding her captive.
The next morning, the accused left the victim near her residence in Vivek Vihar and escaped after threatening her of dire consequences if she told anyone about the assault. The traumatised girl, however, reached home and narrated her ordeal to the family.
The victim’s medical examination confirmed rape. Police said the girl is a first-year physiotherapy student at a private institute. Two of the accused live in the same locality and were schoolmates of the victim. Police said a case of rape has been registered and further investigation underway.
