A 17-year-old student died after falling from the building of a school in East Delhi’s Gokalpuri area on Friday. The incident happened when the student was reportedly flying kite along with his friends. The family members have alleged that their son was pushed by other students. The Police has also launched an investigation into this matter.

The deceased is identified as Ravi Verma (17) who was living with his parents in Gokalpuri area. His father Brijendra Verma is a clerk with Air India in Palam. On Friday, Ravi came home for lunch and again went back to school to attend another class. In the evening, the family was informed about his death.

Police said that after the incident a school employee raised an alarm and Ravi was rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) hospital where he was declared brought dead by the doctors. The body has been handed over to the family after the autopsy.

“We suspect that he was flying kite with his friends at the school terrace during which the mishap took place,” said a police officer adding prime facie it appears to be an accident case.

“We have registered a case under relevant sections of negligence and are questioning his friends who were with him when the incident took place,” said the police official.

Police added they were questioning the school staff, including the principal and teachers, as well for information and have visited the spot at least twice to recreate the scene.
