A 15-year-old boy is under scanner for his role in rape and assault of six-year-old girl, who was found in men’s public toilet in Badarpur on Friday. During investigation, it has emerged that the suspect, who has been living in the neighbourhood was after the victim for two weeks.
On Saturday, the family of the victim held a protest on the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road and also blocked the traffic for about an hour. They demanded the administration to solve the case within 24 hours.
Police sources said that the suspected minor was being questioned by the investigators and it was emerged that he had been seen loitering near the victim’s residence. “The suspected minor was the one who had informed the victim’s parents at their home about their daughter and he had gone washroom twice at the time of incident,” sources added.
Meanwhile, over 500 persons have been questioned by the South-East district police in the matter so far. A senior police official said around 10 special teams have been formed to investigate the matter and all neighbouring shanties are being thoroughly checked.
It was also stated that they are conducting inquiries to ascertain whether some persons were missing before or after the incident. Investigators are also probing the role of drug addicts of the area and they have so far detained 22 persons, including the attendant of the toilet for questioning.
“Attendant is being also questioned. He had told the police that he was sleeping at the time of incident. He takes money from every user of the toilet and he cannot get away with simply claiming that he was asleep. We are also probing his role,” the sources added.
