In order to keep the New Delhi areas clean, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has installed underground modern dustbins across 12 locations with each having capacity of 2200 kg.
These bins are fitted with sensors that automatically alert the civic body once they are full and trucks would be sent to the locations for empting the bins, a senior NDMC official said.
NDMC Chairman Naresh Kumar said that the system of underground dustbins would not only keep the city neat and clean but also there is no foul smell emitted by the bins and the stray animals will also be keep at bay.
