Aastha Gill, who recently released her single Paani Paani, speaks with SHALINI SAKSENA about the track and why she said yes to Khatron Ke Khiladi11
What is Paani Paani about?
It is the very special song for me as this is the first time I have got a chance to collaborate with Jacqueline (Fernandez) and she is one of my favourite actor. It was fun shooting with them though we recorded the song in a different way as Badshah bhai wasn’t there when I was dubbing it. That was difficult for me at first place but we pulled it off.
How did you come on board the project?
Badshah bhai thought me while writing the lyrics of the song. We were in a flight together, where I was fascinated to see him write lyrics. He instantly asked me to record it on phone. That’s how it all happened. I didn't choose the song but the song choose me.
The song has already had 100 million-plus views. Did you expect this kind of response so soon?
Honestly yes. I had anticipated it to be a grand song. It can fall nothing short of when there is Jacqueline and Badshah bhai. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves while working on this project and we’re confident the audience would equally enjoy it.
You have collaborated with Badshah before and all have been hits. What’s the secret?
My experience with him was always being incredible. It’s like family working together. It was super fun as usual and I love it. I would like to do more million songs with him.
You have collaborated with other artists as well. The experience of such collaborations.
Collaborations are always fun and when two artist come together then magic happens. Each artist brings so much of their creativity and understanding to the song , that the song turns out to be something new and fresh.
What made you say yes to Khatron Ke Khiladi 11?
First, it was my television debut and Khatron Ke Khiladi has been one of my favourite shows when I was young. I used to be glued to TV watching all episodes. When I got this opportunity in the beginning I was bit stuck as I have never done TV and I was questioning if I would be able to do it, but I also felt that I need some change and need some adventure. I think it was one of the best decision of my life.
What are the challenges of doing the show? Any preparations?
Overcoming my fear was the biggest challenge. But I was game for it and that's the main reason I said yes to the show.
What next?
I have planned lot of collaborations and lot of singles on the way and I have been working on my albums as well. You’ll be hearing a lot from me in coming time.
