Vladamir Furdik aka The Night King speaks with Shalini Saksena on why he chose to be part of Comic-Con India

You were one of the main stuntmen on Games of Throne, how did the role of The Night King come to you?

I was offered the role as I had prepared and created a lot of stunts for the production in the past. I think working on any project is the same but the people you work with are different. Some are better prepared and some are worse. On Games Of Throne, people were super ready and everyone knew what to do.

How much time does it take for you to get the make-up on and off?

The transforming process is quite interesting and takes almost six hours. My make -up consists of eight parts which stick to my face. It is not that hard to wear and also protects you from the cold and wind

Tell us about your journey as an actor -- from Slovakia to the US?

I have been working on movies since I was 15 years old. First, I helped with horses because horse riding was my hobby at that time which I loved. I trained horses, cleaned horse stables, groomed them and cared for them during the shooting. That was my first contact with the movie business. For the next 15 years, I watched and learned. Of course I still keep watching and learning. Every new film project gives me a new experience. I never forget that it’s the help of others and especially teachers that helped me to be successful. Stuntmen and actors are close and need to help each other.

Being an actor is harder than being a stuntman. Yes, my experience as a stuntman helped me with my acting work. I like every job that I’m doing. I have all the nice memories and especially thanks to people I meet there.

Why did you agree to be part of Comic-Con India?

I did not know about Comic Cons before I started play the Night King. I personally like the stories from the comic con universe and I am very excited to come for it to India.

Is there any message for your fans here in India?

I’ve been to India before when I was filming for a movie, more than 20 years ago. I was in India for almost two months and met a lot of nice people. I also had the opportunity to see the beautiful countryside and to taste traditional Indian food. I am looking forward to a similar experience. I’ve never met such friendly people as I have in India.

After comic con I only have two days, then I have to go back. But I promise to come back soon for at least four months.
