Wolves re-sign Doherty after Atletico Madrid exit

Wolves re-signed Matt Doherty on a free transfer on Thursday after the Republic of Ireland defender's exit from Atletico Madrid.

Doherty agreed a three-year deal with Wolves, where the right-back made more than 300 appearances during his first spell at the Premier League club.

The 31-year-old left Molineux in 2020 to join Tottenham but, after a disappointing stint in north London, he moved to Atletico Madrid in January on a six-month deal.

After making only two appearances for Atletico, Doherty has got his wish to return to the English top-flight.

Burnley sign Redmond

Newly promoted Premier League club Burnley signed Nathan Redmond on a free transfer on Friday after the former Southampton winger left Turkish club Besiktas.

Redmond agreed a two-year contract with Burnley, who have the option of further season's extension to his deal.

The 29-year-old was a free agent after leaving Besiktas following a single season in Turkey, where he scored six goals in 28 games.

"I always had aspirations to play again in the Premier League. Burnley's project matches with my ambitions," Redmond said.

"The management team feel like they can enhance my game more and see the value I can bring on and off the field. It feels like a perfect match."

Redmond, who has one England cap, has played 264 times in the Premier League after spending six years at Southampton and three seasons at Norwich.
