West Ham scored three times in 15 minutes to fight back to eliminate Tottenham, while Chelsea ousted Everton to reach the quarterfinals of the league Cup on Wednesday.

Moussa Sissoko and Dele Alli sent Tottenham into a halftime lead but Andre Ayew's double leveled the match and Angelo Ogbonna sealed a remarkable 3-2 win to stun the home fans at Wembley Stadium.

At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger headed in his first goal since joining the club in the offseason in the 26th minute and Willian doubled the lead in the second minute of stoppage time. Dominic Calvert-lewin pulled one back but Everton lacked time to equalize and Chelsea held on to win 2-1.

Chelsea, Everton, Tottenham and West Ham made a combined 30 changes from the 44 players who started their weekend Premier league games.

The draw for the quarterfinals is on Thursday. Bristol City of the second tier is the only non-Premier league team still in the competition. Arsenal, Bournemouth, leicester, Manchester City and Manchester United also advanced on Tuesday.

Bayern edges leipzig 5-4

BERlIN: Sven Ulreich saved former teammate Timo Werner's penalty in a shootout to send Bayern Munich through to the third round of the German Cup at leipzig's expense on Wednesday.

With the game deadlocked at 1-1 after extra time, both sides' players converted their spot-kicks until Ulreich, who had been Werner's teammate at Stuttgart, guessed correctly. He stopped the Germany forward's shot from reaching the bottom right corner to give Bayern a 5-4 win on penalties.

CUP RESPITE

Both Cologne and Werder Bremen, winless in the Bundesliga, briefly forgot about league troubles with victories to progress to the third round.

Cologne enjoyed a 3-1 win at Hertha Berlin, while Bremen edged visiting Hoffenheim 1-0 thanks to Ishak Belfodil's first-half strike.

FIRST WIN

Wolfsburg defeated Hannover 1-0 at home to give Martin Schmidt his first win as coach after five draws in  the league.
