Ace boxer Vikas Krishan, who bagged Gold in 75 kg category in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games, said that he's happy with his performance and is looking forward to continue his good form in the upcoming events including the Asian Games and the Word Championship later this year.
However, The 25-year-old Haryana pugilist who has had a decorated career, with an Asian Games Gold medal, a World Championships Bronze and now a CWG Gold, said that although he's turning professional by the end of this year, the 2020 Olympics will be his top target.
"Olympics is my top priority and fighting with the fitter and more challenging boxers in professional boxing will obviously help me to prepare well for the Tokyo Olympics," Vikas said.
"Since it is more challenging than the amateur one, it'll clearly help me to stay fit and will add to my chances of winning the Olympic medal. Moreover, I want to have some bigger challenges and greater thrill. I think this is the right time because Olympics are no longer off-limits for professional boxers and that takes care of my dream of an Olympic medal. I just hope the federation supports me the way it has always supported me," he said.
Vikas, who had a quarter-final finish at the Rio Olympics, revealed on Tuesday that the 2018 CWG will be his last appearance in the Games and also looking at the age factor, he said that the 2020 Tokyo Olympics might very well be his last Olympics.
