Indian boxing superstar Vijender Singh on Thursday revealed that his next fight likely to take place on December 16.
"As far as my future plans are concerned, I can only say that my next fight will take place on December 16," Singh said during a session of the 112th AGM of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
On being asked what are the biggest differences between amateur boxing and professional boxing that he has experienced, Vijender gave an almost philosophical reply.
"Whether its amateur or pro boxing, you have to take punches. But I feel boxing is a duty that God has given me, so it's part of the job and I can't complain," the WBO Asia-Pacific Super Middleweight champion explained.
He also talked about the difference between dealing with the government and with private boxing promoters.
"When you are an amateur boxer, you have to deal with many layers of government, like the sports ministry, SAI, the boxing federation, etc. Whereas, once you turn pro, you don't have to worry about finance and other things. All that is taken care of by the agents," the Olympic bronze medalist said.
Sharing the stage with Vijender was shooter Heena Sidhu, who recently won gold in ISSF Shooting World Cup Finals.
She gave an insight into the mindset of shooters when they are in action.
"When you are taking aim and shooting, it's almost like an other-wordly experience. You have to completely focus on the target. It's similar to meditation," the 28-year old reflected.
Both Vijender and Sidhu were facilitated at the event by senior functionaries of PHDCCI and presented with mementos.
