'Team to get full-time coach after WT20'

Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) secretary Anurag Thakur said Indian cricket team might get a full time head coach after the conclusion of World T20 and added that in the meantime, the team will be marshalled by Ravi Shastri.

“The decision to appoint a full time coach will be taken by the cricket advisory committee soon. We don’t want to discuss about it mid-season. A decision will be taken after the World T20,” Thakur said on the sidelines of International Cricket Council’s (ICC) launch of cricket for good and Team Swachh campaign, in association with UNICEF and BCCI on Monday.

“Ravi Shastri, the team director, will be at the helm till the World T20. A decision as to who will be in charge of the team will be taken after that.”

BCCI secretary also backed Dhoni after team lost first three ODI’s to lose the series.

“Dhoni is India’s most successful captain. Under him we have won two world titles in 2007 and 2011. He has been a consistent captain for last eight years. Just because of one disappointing series, it is unfair to blame him,” he added.

Thakur said they may give the Decision Review System (DRS) a shot if the ball tracking technology to determine leg before decision is taken out of the equation.

India were unlucky in first ODI when George Bailey clearly nicked one off Sran to Dhoni off the first ball and was ruled not out. Australia were 21/2 then and Bailey scored a century to win match.

“I maintain that DRS in its current form is not foolproof. But if we leave aside the leg before part, we can deliberate on conditional usage of technology. Once the players are back from Australia we will discuss the issue with them,” he added.
