West Indies pace ace Jerome Taylor grabbed 6-47 but Steve Smith stretched his ninth Test century to 199 on Friday as Australia went on 393-9, at the time of going to press, on day two of the second Test at Sabina Park.
Taylor and Smith were again the stars of the session as the tourists lost four wickets for 92 runs.
Taylor, who had prized out the top order on Thursday, added the early scalps of Shane Watson (25) and Brad Haddin (22), while there was a wicket apiece for fellow seamers Kemar Roach and Jason Holder.
Smith, resuming on 135, stretched his fifth-wicket stand with Watson to 54 before Taylor angled on in to hit Watson’s off stump as the batsman played no stroke. Watson struck four fours off 73 balls.
Haddin, dropped at point by Jermaine Blackwood off Roach, played aggressively before his stumps were also hit by a Taylor inswinger.
Mitchell Johnson (5) soon edged Roach to Darren Bravo at first slip. But Smith passed 150 with his 16th boundary, and shared useful stands of 24 and 20 unbroken with Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood respectively before the break.
