Dhawan moves to Daredevils from srh

New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad have traded an "unsettled" Shikhar Dhawan to Delhi Daredevils in a move that will see the India opener play for the IPL franchise of his home city after 10 years. In exchange of Dhawan, Delhi have released all-rounder Vijay Shankar, spinner Shahbaz Nadeem and the young Abhishek Sharma to Sunrisers. Dhawan was bought back by Sunrisers in the auction earlier this year through Right to Match card for Rs  5.2 crore. The southpaw was unhappy about his price tag, leading to the move to Delhi where he played in the inaugural IPL in 2008. Dhawan was with Sunrisers since 2013, becoming their leading run-getter with 2768 runs from 91 innings.

Gambhir steps down as Delhi captain

New Delhi: Gautam Gambhir was on Monday replaced by Nitish Rana as Delhi's Ranji captain after the team's seniormost player decided to make way for someone younger at the top position. I will be in the background helping the new leader to win games," Gambhir tweeted. The 24-year-old Rana is a middle-order batsman, who has an average of 46.29 in 24 first-class appearances so far. The 26-year-old Shorey has 21 first-class matches to his credit and is a top-order batsman.

Taijul’s 11 leads B'desh fightback

Sylhet: Taijul Islam claimed 11 wickets to lead Bangladesh's fightback in the first Test against Zimbabwe on Monday, but the hosts still need a record chase to win in Sylhet. Bangladesh dismissed Zimbabwe for 181 in their second innings with Taijul returning impressive bowling figures of 5-62. Taijul's effort boosted Bangladesh after they were bowled out cheaply for just 143 in response to the tourists' first innings haul of 282 runs. The hosts were 26-0 in their chase of 321 when bad light stopped play on day three at the Sylhet International Stadium. No team has ever had to chase so many runs to win a Test match in Bangladesh. Bangladesh's highest successful chase at home is 101 against Zimbabwe in 2014.
