Monaco name Thierry Henry as new coach
Paris: AS Monaco announced on Saturday the appointment of former French star Thierry Henry as the new coach for three seasons, replacing Portuguese Leonardo Jardim. The former striker, 41, will lead the Ligue 1 team starting from Monday after Jardim was fired on Thursday due to poor results. "The former striker of the French national team returns to Monaco, where he was trained and played between 1993 and 1999," the club said in a statement. Henry, a World Cup champion in 1998, will be accompanied by Joao Carlos Valado Tralhao, coach of Benfica's Under-23 squad, and Patrick Kwame Ampadu, coach of the Arsenal Academy. As a player for Monaco, the Frenchman appeared in 141 matches, scoring 28 goals and helping the French club to claim the Ligue 1 title in 1997. "I am very happy to come back to AS Monaco and extremely determined to meet the challenges ahead," Henry said.
Sharma eyes maiden PGA Tour title
Kuala Lumpur: Shubhankar Sharma was in joint lead after 54 holes for the second time in a PGA Tour event, as he carded 6-under 66 to reach 19-under 197 at the TPC Kuala Lumpur West course on Saturday. Sharma, who held sole lead at the end of 54 hole at WGC0-Mexico, earlier this year, is tied with overnight co-leaders Gary Woodland (67) and Marc Leishman (67). Sharma had seven birdies and the day's lone bogey came after a gap of 21 holes since the second hole, his 11th hole on Friday. That also means Sharma will play in the lead group of a PGA Tournament only the second time in his career. It is also the second time at the CIMB Classic, that an Indian player has had at least a share of the lead after 54 holes - Anirban Lahiri was leader by four shots after three days in 2015, when Justin Thomas came from behind and won the title.
Jepkosgei joins Delhi Half Marathon
new delhi: Kenya's world half marathon record holder Joyciline Jepkosgei has been added to the women's elite field for the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, brightening prospect of a mouth-watering head-to-head with three-time Olympic Gold medallist Tirunesh Dibaba. The pair have met twice before. Firstly, at last year's Ras al Khaimah Hal Marathon when Jepkosgei finished third and the Ethiopian legend was fifth; secondly in May this year at the Manchester 10km in Great Britain when Dibaba (whose participation in the ADHM 2018 has been previously announced) got the upper hand with a convincing win - 31:08 to 31:57 - with the Kenyan runner in second place. However, Jepkosgei will come to the ADHM 2018, scheduled for October 21, in fine form buoyed by a half marathon win over a classy local field in a high-altitude race in her native Kenya last Sunday. "The Airtel Delhi Half Marathon is my first-ever trip to India and so I am very much looking forward to visiting and also competing against, once again, Tirunesh Dibaba as well as the rest of the field of accomplished and confident women," said the 24-year-old Jepkosgei.
