After losing to World No 1 Tai for the fifth time this year in the Denmark Open final at Odenese on Sunday, heartbroken Saina Nehwal will look to fill the upset in the $ 750,000 French Open Superseries starting in Paris from Tuesday.
Former World No 1 and London Olympics Bronze medallist Saina, who was dropped down to 27th position in the world rankings following some unexpected results in the recent few tournaments made a strong comeback last week in Denmark but couldn't finish supreme.
She lost in three sets even after bouncing back in the second set in 53 minutes clash. But overwhelmed by her brilliant show in Danish tourney, Saina is expecting to lift title in the French capital.
Back to top 10 in the ranking once again after edging past Japanese old foes Akane Yamaguchi and Nozomi Okuhara in quarters and semifinal respectively. Nehwal will open her campaign against world No 37th Japanese Saena Kawakami.
While Asian Games and World Championship Silver medallist PV Sindhu, will look to start afresh after forgetting her poor run in Denmark, where she suffered a shock defeat in the first round.
Ranked third in the world, Rio Olympics runner up will start against eleventh seed American opponent Beiwen Zhang.
This year turned out to be well for Sindhu as she managed to pull out some brilliant performances which includes Silver medals in top three events of the year, respectively Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, World Championship in China and Asian Games in Jakarta.
But the disappointment lies with the fact that even though she was in flawless form, the Hyderabadi couldn’t finish it with the desired results.
She will be desperate to ammend for all the upsets by winning title in France capital.
In the men's section, top shuttler Kidambi Srikanth will lead India's challenge along with Sai Praneeth and Sameer Verma.
Srikanth, who reached Demark semifinal before losing to eventual winner new world No 1 Kento Momota will start his run against 22nd seeded Hong Kong player Wong Wing Ki Vincent.
Sameer Verma will face Asian Games Gold medallist Jonatan Christie in the first match.
However for Sai Praneeth the first match could also be his last in the tournament as he faces tough challenge from Viktor Axelsen, who is dropped down to third in the rankings following some unfavourable results.
Apart from the singles competition, number 24th in the world Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will lead challenge in men's doubles and will start campaign against 36th seed German pair of Jones Ralfy Jansen and Joche Zurwonne.
And in the mixed doubles, 33rd in the world Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will face 10th ranked English pair of Chris and Gabrielle Adcock in the tournament opener.
