Bringing end to the rift between the Sports Authority of India and Hockey India (HI) over the participation of the former’s two employees Roelant Oltmans and Terry Walsh, in the upcoming Hero Hockey India league. Narinder Batra, the Secretary General of HI, clarified that the duo won’t be paid by the government, during the duration of the HIl.
National team Head coach Walsh has been roped as the chief coach of Kalinga lancers while High Performance Director Roelant Oltmans is involved with Uttar Pradesh Wizards, to which the SAI had termed their associations unethical.
“I have got letters from SAI dated January 20 where it has been mentioned that both Oltmans and Walsh have the permissions to coach HIl teams. We have complied all the processes outlined in their contracts. But it is true both Walsh and Oltmans won’t get their salaries from SAI during the HIl period,” Batra said on Thursday.
