Brazilian winger Paulinho, who has scored twice at this FIFA under-17 World Cup, revealed that he draws inspiration from Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
"My inspiration is Cristiano Ronaldo," said Paulinho on the eve of their clash against Germany here on Sunday. "I admire the way he is always patient, he trains hard and has reached this far in his career. He is an inspiration to those who like to work hard to be the best."
When asked about his ambition at this World Cup, the Vasco da Gama's striker said that they are playing for everything but they want to take it only one match at a time.
"We were working for the past two years to reach here. And we took one step at a time to be here and it has to remain that way. We won in South America to reach here. We defeated three teams in the group, then Honduras to reach the quarterfinals. Ultimately, we want the World cup but we will talk about it when we reach the Final," said Paulinho.
Before arriving in India, the winger never expected a 50,000-odd crowd support for their team. He wished to give it back to the fans with showcasing good football.
"I never had an experience of playing with the support of 50,000 fans. It has been a very positive thing for the team. We wish to transform that positive energy into our game and give back the fans some joy with good performance," wished Paulinho.
About the presence of scouts from top clubs of Europe monitoring their performance, the Selecao winger said this competition is all that matters at the moment and everything else comes next.
"Presence of scouts here is an indication of what we have achieved so far but we are focused on our game, we are here to win the competition, so we are engulfed in what we want to do tomorrow. Of course, we dream to play in Europe later but at the moment this tournament is the one matters the most. I don't know what we are going to get in future but we will take it positively," said Paulinho.
