India's PV Sindhu will aim to cap her resurgent campaign with a French Open title when she takes on South Korean world No. 1 An Se Young in the women's singles final on Sunday.

The 31-year-old Indian is one win away from securing her seventh BWF World Tour title and her second Super 750 crown of the season. Victory would also give her multiple World Tour titles in a calendar year for the first time since 2022.

Sindhu revived her title-winning form with a triumph at the Japan Open in July, where she defeated three-time world champion Akane Yamaguchi in the final. It was her first BWF title since December 2024 and her breakthrough victory at the Super 750 level.

Her French Open campaign has showcased her trademark resilience. After opening with a hard-fought win over Thailand's Supanida Katethong, she defeated Japan's Riko Gunji and Chinese Taipei's Chiu Pin-chian in straight games.

In the semi-final, Sindhu overcame Japan's Akechi in a tense three-game encounter. After losing the second game, the Indian held her nerve in the decider, producing crucial points under pressure to seal the victory with a cross-court smash.

However, the final presents a formidable challenge in the form of An Se Young, who has enjoyed a phenomenal season. The South Korean entered the title clash with a reported 65-1 win-loss record and a 49-match winning streak, having already won nine titles in 2026.

An Se Young has also been dominant at the French Open, reaching the final without dropping a game. She defeated Amalie Schulz, India's Tanvi Sharma, Han Yue and Nozomi Okuhara in straight games.

Sindhu's record against the South Korean offers little encouragement. An Se Young has won all 10 of their previous meetings, with the Indian managing to claim just one game. Their two encounters this year, at the Singapore Open and Indonesia Open, both ended in straight-game victories for the South Korean.

Despite the daunting record, Sindhu remains determined to challenge her opponent.

"Every point matters. I know we've played a lot of times and she's been doing really well. She's been at her top form. But I think tomorrow is a different day. Every day is a new day. I just have to go out there and give my best," Sindhu said.

The final is scheduled to begin at 3.30 pm IST on Sunday. Indian viewers can watch the match live on FanCode, with no television broadcast scheduled in the country.
