After an intense 56 days of high voltage action in the Star Sports Pro Kabaddi league, four teams-U Mumba, the defending champions, Patna Pirates, Puneri Paltan and Bengal Warriors — will battle it out to win the coveted championship title of PKl here on Friday.
In the first match on Friday, Patna Pirates, who are on an unbeaten run, will take on Puneri Paltan.
Paltan's need not look anywhere as their inspirational captain Manjit Chillar is on the form of his life as the opposition defence's are having a hard time tackling him.
Pirates had a dream start to the third season of PKl campaign, decimating almost everyone who came in their path. U Mumba and Telugu Titans were the only side who beat them this season.
In the other semifinal, U Mumba — last year defending champions — will take on Bengal Warriors. After losing 19-43 to Puneri Paltan on Wednesday, Warriors are low on confidence and will find it tough to regain their form and morale against a confident Mumbai outfit.
As much so that Bengal Warriors nicked into the top four positions by edging out Bengaluru Bulls 26-22 in hard fought victory last Tuesday.
However, inclusion of Services players has propelled the performance of many teams in PKl and not to mention Bengal Warriors were one of those to benefit from the move. This season's surprise package Patna Pirates was another one to make the most of it.
It remains to be seen now who amongst the Patna Pirates, U Mumba, Bengal Warriors and Puneri Paltan can hold their nerves to make it to the finals. Irrespective of the result, as a Kabaddi fan, one cannot miss the incredible scorpion kicks and bone crushing techniques which will be on show here at the Indira Gandhi Indoor stadium on Friday. Subsequently, the final will also take place at the same venue on Saturday.
live from 7:50pm on Star Sports network.
