PSG take on Real in heavyweight clash

Real Madrid vs. Paris Saint-Germain means it’s Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Two of the best forwards in the game meet on Wednesday in the Champions league when Madrid travels to Paris with the Group A lead at stake.

Ronaldo has recently broken Raul Gonzalez’s all-time scoring record for Madrid with his 324th career goal for the 10-time European champions.

Ibrahimovic did the same for PSG. The Sweden striker had another two-goal game in the French league last weekend and is the club’s all-time leading scorer with 112 goals in all competitions.

Gareth Bale picked up a left-leg muscle injury in Madrid’s 3-0 win over levante on Saturday, while striker Karim Benzema returned from international duty with France with a hamstring pull. Their knocks leave Ronaldo all alone in attack.

PSG, which lost in the quarterfinals to Barcelona last season, is waiting on the fitness of goalkeeper Kevin Trapp and defender David luiz, but should see the return of midfielder Marco Verrati alongside Thiago Motta and Blaise Matuidi.

The midfield battle is expected to be one of the keys of the game, with Madrid boasting a solid line made of Casemiro, Toni Kroos and luka Modric.

Sevilla reunion for Navas

MIlAN (AP):  Sevilla will find a familiar face on its trip to England.

Manchester City midfielder Jesus Navas will face Sevilla in the Champions league on Wednesday, two years after leaving his hometown club for the Premier league.

Navas made 393 appearances and scored 34 goals while helping Sevilla win two UEFA Cups and two Copa del Rey titles.

Both clubs come into the match with three points after both lost to Juventus. The Italian champions will be looking to maintain their perfect record in Group D when they host last-place Borussia Moenchengladbach.

United travel to Moscow

MOSCOW: Instead of keeping players fresh, Manchester United can’t take any risks against CSKA Moscow. All four teams in Group B have three points from two matches, leaving United little room to rest players ahead of the Sunday’s derby against Manchester City.

United lost at PSV Eindhoven in the opening round, making the match against CSKA more important. The Moscow club took four points off City in the Champions league last year.

Wayne Rooney scored his first away league goal in 11 months in Saturday’s 3-0 win at Everton and will hope that sparks a run after a slow start. Also, United manager louis van Gaal has no new injury problems.

In the other group match, Wolfsburg hosts PSV Eindhoven.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid hosts Kazakh club Astana in Group C and in the other group match, Benfica travels to Galatasaray.
