Power-failure disrupts match

In an embarrassment for the organisers, the Championship league T20 match between Trinidad & Tobago and Brisbane Heats was disrupted for 20 minutes following a power failure in one of the six flood-lit towers, here on Sunday.

The umpires took the players off the field after the flood light tower situated on the North-western side of the ground went off. The incident happened in the eighth over of the Brisbane innings while chasing 136 to win. “A minor fault in the gen-set had led to the snapping of power, and it took just about ten minutes to restore,” said an office-bearer of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association. This was the second such disruption, marring an important sporting event in Ranchi in the same month.
