Post-class XII future worries students

Published on:

Most students, especially those in intermediate class, are concerned about their future careers as after passing Class XII they will have to choose their field of higher studies according to their examination scores and area of interest.

When asked about their future plans after completing school, most intermediate students had specific plans for higher studies to secure a career in the field of their choice. The Commerce students are interested in management courses, bachelor of commerce and law degrees while few are interested in diploma courses.

Science stream students are eager to pursue their future studies with many aiming for Indian Institute of Technology and some showing interest in preparing for MBBS. The number of students interested in MBBS is not high as they find that the large sum of money to be spent on medical studies is not affordable for all.

On the other hand, there are also some students who are considering a change in their stream. Some science students are not interested to pursue this stream and in stead want to change their stream to pursue business management courses. Considering the money and fame being earned by sportspersons especially cricketers, and those in the entertainment industry, some students are also interested in a career in sports like cricket, hockey and performance arts like dancing and singing. However, in many cases, the parents of such students do not support the plans of their wards and in stead stress on academics.

The number of students in Arts stream is limited and most of them have opted to study hotel management, mass communication and BA.
