Former Indian skipper and Delhi Capitals advisor in this year's IPL, Saurav Ganguly is thoroughly impressed by Delhi Capitals performance in this year's IPL, where the side make it to the play-offs for the first time since 2012.
Speaking about what makes the difference this time for the Capitals, in his discussion with long-time former India teammate VVS Laxman on Maruti Suzuki Cricket LIVE show on Star Sports Network, 'Dada' shared his take.
The former Kolkata Knight Riders and Pune Warriors India players said, "Our team has the perfect mixture of experience and youth which quite often makes a big difference to the entire game. I was the captain of the team at a very young age and so was VVS Laxman, in the years from 1999 to 2012, and it all made us good players. This is an excellent situation for Delhi Capitals to grow and become immensely good at their game as a unit."
"The team already has Shikhar Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada and Sandeep Lamichhane who play tremendously well."
"When Rashid joined Sunrisers Hyderabad, he was a very young player too, VIVO IPL is an extremely high-pressure tournament. How many times have we seen an Afghan player who has not played Test Cricket or an ODI, play beautifully to win a match when given the responsibility? Look how Jonny Bairstow and Prithvi Shaw have played, Shaw who won us the match against Kolkata Knight Riders."
"Talent is very important in a player and to channelize that talent — the most important thing in this VIVO IPL format is that you need to play freely."
