PCB still hopeful of India's clearance: Shaharyar Khan

The PCB chief Shaharyar Khan on Thursday said he is still awaiting BCCI's written reply on the proposed series later this month besides hoping that the Indian government gives green light to the resumption of cricketing ties in a "day or two".

While PCB has been playing the waiting game by extending deadlines after deadlines for the BCCI, the Indian cricket board has maintained all along that the decision to play Pakistan rests with its government.

"We are just waiting for a reply (from BCCI)," Shaharyar said in an interview when asked about the likelihood of the series happening given that it's already the third week of December.

The PCB had put forward tentative dates for the series comprising three ODIs and two T20 Internationals in Sri lanka: December 15-January 4 or December 19-January 4.

Clearly there is very little time to organise the series and both Pakistan and India tour New Zealand and Australia, respectively, in January.

When asked about the series taking place at a later date, Shaharyar was non-committal.

"If you see the situation as of now, we can't do it. If the series has to take place at a later date, then BCCI has to propose it. We have waited enough," he said.

‘pumped for Indo-Pak clash’

Karachi: Pakistan's T20 captain Shahid Afridi is prepared for a tough World T20 campaign in India after the ICC announced the draws of the biennial event in March-April.

"It is a tough draw for us and we are looking forward to the second match against India in Dharamasala," he told the media on Thursday.

"We have little time left to prepare for the World T20 and we need to finalise our combination when we tour New Zealand next month," he said.

"I say it is a tough draw for us because in T20 cricket they are no second chances. We have been making too many mistakes in recent matches and we need to leave that behind us now," he further added.

The flamboyant all-rounder who has said he plans to retire after the World T20 in India said the match against the hosts would be a big one.
