India A emerged as the dominant side as they raced to 91 for one after Bangladesh declared their innings at 224 for eight on the first day of their two-day warm-up match here on Sunday.

Batting first after winning the toss, only two Bangladeshi batsmen — skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and Soumya Sarkar — have had decent batting practice days before the one-off Test against world number one India. While Mushfiqur made 58 off 106 balls, Sarkar struck 52 off 73 at the Gymkhana Ground.

At stumps, Priyank Panchal (40) and Shreyas Iyer (29) were at the crease for India A. India A trailed by 133 runs with nine wickets remaining.

Sabbir Rahman (33), liton Das and Mahmudullah (both 23) pitched in with useful contributions for the visiting side.

India A's left-arm medium pacer Aniket Choudhary put up an impressive show, picking up 4/26 in 12 overs.

Choudhary missed a hat-trick in the 61st over after having got the wickets of Mushfiqur and Mehdi Hasan.

Bangladesh's seasoned player Shakib Al Hasan did not play the match. Bangladesh suffered a setback in the fifth over with local lad CV Milind picking up the wicket of opener Imrul Kayes.

After the departure of openers Tamim Iqbal and Kayes, Sarkar and Mushfiqur steadied the ship with their steady batting.

Besides Choudhary, CV Milind, Vijay Shankar, Shahbaz Nadeem and Kuldeep Yadav claimed one wicket each for the home team.

The visitors declared their innings in the 67th over though they had two wickets in hand.

Opener Panchal scored 40 in 62 balls, with the help of six boundaries.

India A skipper Abhinav Mukund was dismissed by Subhashis Roy after making 16.

The one-off Test between Bangladesh and India is scheduled to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket stadium in the city from February 9.

‘We know Ind will be difficult’

Bangladesh's seasoned cricketer Shakib Al Hasan on Sunday said his side would like to put its best foot forward in the upcoming one-off Test match against world number one India.

"Playing a Test in India for the first time is exciting. We know it is not easy and India is number one at the moment. It will be difficult for us but that is why we play cricket — face the challenge and do well," the allrounder told reporters on the sidelines of a two-day warm-up game against India A.

The team needs to put up a collective effort to the best of its ability to do well against India, he said.

Observing that the Indian team is a formidable one at the moment with its spin attack, fast bowlers and batting department raising the bar, Shakib reiterated that his team needs to be at its best to make it tough for the host.

He appreciated India captain Virat Kohli and others for their performances in recent times.

He said his experience of playing in the IPl would come in handy.

He said the young players, including the bowlers, in his side have been doing a good job.

Meanwhile, India A bowler Aniket Choudhary, who claimed four wickets today at the Gymkhana grounds, said it is a good feeling.

"It's a big thing for me that I came to India A and doing well and took four wickets. It is a good feeling for me," he said.

"The wicket suited my bowling," he added.

Choudhary missed a hat-trick in the 61st over of the day.

"The ball was changed. The ball (we were  bowling) became old and soft. Then, we spoke to the umpire, spoke to the skipper that we should change the ball. The umpire said okay. I missed five wickets as there was a good chance but it's okay. Next time, I will definitely take," Aniket said.

Choudhary added, "It's very important for me to play for country. I have been doing well in Ranji trophy. I got this chance also." He said he was expecting an India A call last year also.
