India’s Sania Mirza and Switzerland’s Martina Hingis continued their amazing run this year as the World No.1 pairing won Guangzhou International Women’s Open.
The Indo-Swiss pairing beat Chinese pair of Xu Shilin and You Xiaodi 6-3, 6-1 in 58 minutes.
Mirza and Hingis had won Wimbledon and US Open together before continuing their dominance with this tournament in China.
This is their sixth tournament win of 13 played together starting with Indian Wells, Miami, Charleston, Wimbledon, US Open and now in Guangzhou. Their win-loss right now is an impressive 42-7.
Up next for them is at a much tougher Wuhan Open.
Jankovic wins title
Former No. 1 Jelena Jankovic of Serbia continued her strong form in China, beating Denisa Allertova of Czech Republic 6-2, 6-0 to win the Guangzhou International title.
Jankovic has yet to lose a match in China this season, having won a lower-tier WTA series event in Nanchang. She dominated against Allertova, converting all three of her break points in the first set and saving all three she faced in the second.
The No.4-seeded Jankovic won the last 11 games to seal her 14th WTA title.
Bencic to face Radwanska
Tokyo: Swiss teenager Belinda Bencic cruised past top-seeded Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 6-4 Saturday to set up a Toray Pan-Pacific Open final against Agnieszka Radwanska.
The eighth-seeded Bencic had beaten Wozniacki in all three of their previous meetings this year and broke in the first game of the match to set the tone against the Dane, last year's runner-up in this event. The 18-year-old Bencic is looking for her third title of a breakthrough season, having beaten Radwanska for her first career trophy in Eastbourne in June.
If she wins again on Sunday, she'll break into the top 10 in the rankings for the first time.
"I have already reached a better result than I could ever have imagined, so I can enjoy tomorrow," said Bencic, who also won the Rogers Cup in Toronto after beating Serena Williams in the semifinals.
Wozniacki said she was still tired after tough three-setter against Angelique Kerber on Friday that lasted more than two hours.
Radwanska beat Dominika Cibulkova, of Slovakia 6-4, 6-1 in the second semifinal after rallying from 4-2 down in the first set.
Sousa upsets Thiem
ST. PETERSBURG (Russia): Joao Sousa of Portugal upset third-seeded Dominic Thiem of Austria 6-4, 7-6 (5) to reach the final of the St. Petersburg Open.
Thiem won more points than Sousa but his serving was inconsistent, with 11 aces balanced by landing just 46 percent of his first serves. It was the seventh-seeded Sousa's first win against Thiem in four meetings.
In Sunday's final, Sousa will face either second-seeded Milos Raonic of Canada or No. 4 Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain.
Sousa has lost his last four ATP finals since winning his only title at the 2013 Malaysian Open.
