'lack of goals not a problem'

Roberto Carlos is not reading too much into his team's less than impressive goal scoring form so far in the Indian Super league as the Brazilian is confident the goals will eventually arrive.

Of the seven games played till now, Delhi Dynamos have scored just the six goals.

During a pre-match press conference on Thursday, Carlos, player cum coach for Dynamos, said he is not too worried about the lack of goals.

"I'm not worried, because we are at top of the table. The goals will come at right moments. There is no reason to pressure my players. They will score when the opportunity comes," said Carlos.

"What if on Friday my strikers wake up lucky and score two goals each," joked the Brazilian.

Adil Nabi, the first player to be loaned from English Premier league to ISl, can help in solving the goal scoring problem for Delhi. Carlos said he will play on Thursday against Mumbai City FC despite being a peripheral figure so far this season.

Nabi is on a three month loan deal from Tony Pulis managed West Bromwich Albion. The 21-year-old has however struggled to make an impact in the Delhi squad. He has managed just two substitute appearances till date and clocked a mere 31 minutes on the field.

When asked about the reason for his limited role on the pitch, Roberto said: "He [Nabi] came as a striker, but then he told me he wants to play in the midfield. So, we are still trying to find his position. To the enjoyment of Nabi's fans, tomorrow [Friday] he will play."

The former Real Madrid superstar said his former club and national teammate Ronaldo could come to India, if the striker is able to sneak some time out of his busy schedule.

"I have invited him. He wants to come, but the problem is, he works a lot," he informed.

Notably Ronaldo and Carlos were part of the Brazilian team that triumphed in the 2002 World Cup. Carlos and Ronaldo were also an integral part of Real Madrid's famed Galacticos squad.

Despite Delhi sitting second in the table, Carlos has warned against complacency. "You can never under-estimate teams that are at the bottom of the table. Also the teams in the ISl are equally strong. So we have to be extra careful when we play against teams like that," he said.

Delhi is second in the table behind FC Pune City. The two teams are on 13 points each but Dynamos have a game in hand. A win against sixth-placed Mumbai will help them climb up to the top of the table.

Meanwhile, Dynamos' midfielder Hans Mulder is not too bothered about the short recovery time they have for the Mumbai game.

"It's not an excuse. We won't think about the rest because the motivation is that if we win on Friday, we will be the leaders," he explained.

After drawing Tuesday's match 1-1 against NorthEast United, Delhi is playing their next game on Friday.

Mumbai's assistant coach Oscar Bruzon has guaranteed that they will put up a side on Friday which will not stop fighting till the end. "You can expect a fighting and compact team. You can expect a team with a high fighting spirit," he said.

Oscar also added that they have travelled to Delhi to take all three points and not to settle for a draw.
