John looks for happy coincidence

With the Indian Super league set to open with a star studded extravaganza on Saturday in Assam's capital town Guwahati, Bollywood superstar and owner of NorthEast United FC John Abraham said that he would love to see a happy coincidence this season.

John termed the results of last two editions of the ISl as 'happy coincidences' and said that he would love to see a similar kind this time too.

"When Atletico de Kolkata hosted the opening match in the inaugural ISl in 2014, they ended up finishing as the ultimate champions. While Chennaiyin FC emerged winners of the second edition of ISl after hosting the opening match in Chennai. This is quite a coincidence. I am not a superstitious man, but when it is a happy co-incidence like this, we all hope that our dreams....the dreams of all the fans of the Northeast can come true this year," said a cool John on Friday.

It may be mentioned here that this year, the special honour of hosting the opening match has been bestowed upon NorthEast United FC. With the happy coincidences in last two editions of the ISl, the football fans in the region along with the owner of the region's own, NorthEast United FC is now jumping in joy even before the opening ceremony.

"NorthEast United FC finished at the bottom of the pool during the inaugural edition. There were mistakes on our part in the inaugural edition, last season, NorthEast missed out on a semifinal berth by a whisker," said John while adding that this year, they hope to go one step further and at least make it to the semis. "We will see where we go from there," said the excited Bollywood star.

The organizers said that the opening ceremony will have a local North East flavour with the famed Shillong Chamber Choir, who have enthralled audiences across the globe, slated for a sensational performance. The scintillating ceremony will also see over 500 artistes and drummers from the north east regions coming together and perform amidst a spectacular show. The star studded opening ceremony would feature Bollywood stars including Alia Bhatt, Jacqueline Fernandes and Varun Dhawan putting up extravagant performance. Another star attractions will be India's only Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu.
