The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) organised a flag-in ceremony at its Force Headquarters on Wednesday to mark the successful completion of the Mount Abi Gamin Expedition-2026, alongside a felicitation ceremony honoring force sportspersons who excelled in national and international competitions.

ITBP Director General Shatrujeet Kapur graced the occasion as the chief guest, in the presence of Additional Director General (HQ) Sanjay Gunjyal, senior officers, mountaineers, sportspersons, and support staff. The event commenced with a welcome address by Deputy Inspector General (Sports) Pawan Malik.

The expedition team successfully summited the 7,355-metre high Mount Abi Gamin peak on September 16, adding another landmark achievement to the ITBP’s distinguished mountaineering legacy.

During the event, personnel who delivered stellar performances between January and October 2026 were honoured with the DG’s Insignia and Commendation Roll. Among the key awardees were Assistant Sub-Inspector Parveen, who won a Gold Medal in Boxing at the 20th Asian Games in Japan, and Constable Neeraj Chauhan, who secured a Silver and a Bronze Medal in Archery.

Addressing the gathering, Kapur congratulated the mountaineers and medal winners, stating that high-altitude mountaineering is integral to the ITBP’s operational ethos, forging mental resilience and physical endurance required for adverse border terrains. He reaffirmed the force’s commitment to providing modern training infrastructure and sustained support to its sportspersons.
