Hales replaces Warner in SRH

The Sunrisers Hyderabad have picked Alex Hales as the replacement for David Warner, who stepped down as their skipper earlier this week and saw his IPl contract torn up once Cricket Australia suspended him for 12 months over the ball-tampering controversy.

According to a BCCI Press release, the opening batsman was bought for his base price of Rs1 crore from the Registered and Available Player Pool (RAPP) list.

The attacking batsman is the first and only England player till date to score a T20I century. He is also the top-ranked English player and the only one to feature in the top-10 list of the ICC T20I rankings.

This will be Hales' second stint with an IPl franchise. He was previously part of Mumbai Indians' squad. Hales, however, has never actually played in an IPl match.

The 31-year-old Warner was the leading run-getter for SRH in the 2017 IPl as he guided them to the title in 2016.

His absence will be a major loss for SRH, but Hales is no different having earned the reputation as a hard-hitting batsman.
