After missing England’s last game against Afghanistan due to a back problem, Alex Hales is in line to return back to the starting line-up.
The aggressive opener spent considerable amount of time in the nets on Friday and if his recovery goes as expected, he could very well replace James Vince in the playing eleven on Saturday.
Also Reece Topley, who did not start against the Afghans due to a stomach issue, was also present in England’s net session on Friday. Thus there is a possibility of the pacer Reece also making the line-up against lanka, says a member of England’s coaching staff.
The staff also added that England’s focus on Friday’s nets were mainly on spin as the Kotla wicket could favour the lankan spin wizards.
As far as Sri lanka is concerned, the team had a regular practice session. The team’s media manager said the sub-continent side is not looking to put the pressure on their players ahead of the crucial encounter on Saturday.
