Kolkata based Neha Tripathi is one of the top professional players in India. The 21-year-old girl turned pro exactly six years ago in September 2009. She was the winner of KGA (Karnataka Golf Association) leg held in Bangalore in 2011-12.

Speaking on the eve of launch of BT Pro Am tournament here Neha said: “BT Pro Am finals are one of the best golf courses that I play in the country. It’s an icing on the cake for every pro golfer.

“I always look forward to coming to this turf because it generally happens when we break in for summers. Plus participation from other countries is really amazing. We get to meet experienced golfers and learn something new every time. It’s more of a fun event than a competitive event,” she said.

When asked about how she looks back on her career since turning pro in 2009, she said, “It’s absolutely surreal. I have had a really good run from amateur to professional life. I went through a struggling phase when I was an amateur and that time I decided to become a pro because I thought my game had become stagnant and suddenly boom there was this jump in my career.

“I have seen a lot of success and failure in these last six years, it’s how your life is. You have these little heart-breaks. I feel happy that I have chosen a sport that comes so close to life.”

The pro golfer has had a bad last season and says that she is looking forward to next 4-5 months which are crucial for her and she is driven by the determination and her hunger for success.

“last season has not been good for me but I am practising in my favourite zones and comeback stronger next season. Well 2016, it’s an Olympic year and most of us are trying hard but the way I performed last season, I am not sure about it.

“I am currently looking at the next 4-5 months as  to how I go about it. But there is always 2020” Neha laughed while replying.

“But right now my focus is getting into the Asian Tour and European Tour. Next year I will try to go lPGA qualifying school and how it works there and make my base stronger.” she signed off.
