Iyer achieves unique record

Shreyas Iyer, who was handed the captaincy of Delhi Capitals in 2018, on Friday surpassed Gautam Gambhir and became the second most capped captain of the franchise. Delhi's second game of IPL 2020 against Chennai Super was Iyer's 26th game as Delhi Capitals' captain. The 25-year-old is now just behind Virendra Sehwag who has played 52 IPL matches for Delhi as captain. Iyer was one of the players retained by the franchise in 2018. On April 25, 2018, the management of the Delhi Capitals announced Iyer as the new captain of the team, replacing Gautam Gambhir. The franchise has had 11 captains so far.

Kohli fined Rs 12 lakh

RCB captain Virat Kohli has been fined Rs 12 lakh after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their IPL match against Kings XI Punjab in Dubai on Thursday. “As it was his team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr Kohli was fined Rs 12 lakh,” the IPL said in a release.

Virat takes blame for dropping KL

RCB captain Virat Kohli took the blame for his team's 97-run thrashing by KXIP. Without hesitation, Kohli took the blame for dropping Punjab's skipper KL Rahul twice, which contributed significantly to their defeat. Kohli felt had he not dropped two catches off the blade of Rahul, who remained unbeaten on 132, KXIP would not have been able to go past the 200-run mark. “I have to stand in front and take the brunt of it, not the best day in the office, couple of important chances of KL when he was set and that cost us 35-40 runs at a later stage. “Maybe if we restricted them to 180 we wouldn't have been under pressure from ball one of the chase,” said Kohli.

Always back your strengths

KXIP's young spinner Ravi Bishnoi says head coach Anil Kumble has advised him to always stay calm and back his skills as a bowler. The 20-year-old Bishnoi snared three wickets in an emphatic 97-run win over RCB. “Anil sir has always asked me to back strength in my bowling and skill. He asked me not to try too many things and try to be cool and calm in the middle,” Bishnoi said.

Gauti Criticizes Kohli's Captaincy

Former Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir criticized Virat Kohli's captaincy in the loss against the KXIP, particularly for bowling part-timer Shivam Dube in the final 20th over. Speaking on ESPNcricinfo's analysis show T20 Time Out, Gambhir said that he would have bowled any of the specialist death bowlers in the last over. “I know Shivam bowled really well in his first two overs. Yes, you would be tempted to give him a third over, but not the last over. When KL Rahul is already set and batting on 100+, you are walking on the edge, because that can happen. I would have Navdeep Saini or Dale Steyn bowling the last over, even though Steyn is not the best death bowler. But I would have given the last over to the best bowler of the team,” Gambhir said.
