Delhi, jaipur share spoils; paltans ease past titans

For the first time in three days, the players of Dabang Delhi looked more enthusiastic than the crowd as the home team fought hard to earn a 21-21 draw with Jaipur Pink Panthers. If only Dabang Delhi captain Ravinder Pahal had contained his excitement for three more seconds then the hosts could have nicked a win. But, the captain went on to make a heroic defence only for it to backfire.

Rajaesh Narwal’s last raid of the match fetched Jaipur Pink Panthers a point against Delhi. The win takes their tally to 28 points while that of the hosts becomes 10 with both having played 12 matches. At half time in this low scoring match Dabang Delhi had a marginal lead of 9-8.

While Rajesh Narwal pulled off the crucial point it was the super raid of three by Ran Singh that enabled the Jaipur Pink Panthers to level 19-19. But credit must also be given to two youngsters, C Arun from The Jaipur Pink Panthers and Selvamani K of the Dabang Delhi for their never say die spirit.

Meanwhile in the other match, Manjeet Chhillar led from the front to help Puneri Paltan comfortably beat Telugu Titans  in a crucial tie.

He was at the forefront of action. He raided well not by claiming points but ensured that he ran down the clock with empty raids. He was equally brilliant in defence.

Chhillar with the ever alert Surjeet Narwal and Jasmer Gulia joined hands together as the threesome plotted their rivals’ downfall by a handsome 41-24 margin with two all-outs.

Telugu Titans may well have shut the door on their chances for a play-off berth. They have 33 points with six wins in 12 matches and face U Mumba and Patna Pirates in Mumbai.
