After two years of investigation and proceedings, law took its decision by suspending IPl franchises Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings this past year in the spot fixing and betting scandal. led by Justice lodha committee, the decision forced BCCI to take a decision on whether to make IPl-9 a six team tournament or introduce two teams. In the end, they chose the latter with introduction of Rajkot and Pune franchises. The committee also handed life bans to CSK official Gurunath Meiyappan and co-owner of RR Raj Kundra from participating in cricketing affairs. In the spot-fixing scandal, S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan had charges dropped against them by a Delhi trial court. However, it looks unlikely that they will be donning the India shirt anytime in the future.
