Cavani hits 4 in PSG rout; Milan end slump

Criticized for his profligacy in the Champions league, Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani silenced his critics by netting four goals in a landslide 6-0 win over Caen in the French league on Friday.

Cavani scored PSG's goal in a 1-1 draw with Arsenal in the Champions league midweek but also missed three clear-cut chances. Cavani, who took responsibility for his missed occasions after that game, made amends at Caen.

The Uruguay striker's performance helped PSG end a three-game winless streak and move to the top of the league standings.

lucas and Jean-Kevin Augustin added more luster to the four-time defending champion's win in the second half.

Cavani wasted a first chance in the fourth minute, missing the target from Angel Di Maria's pass but opened the scoring eight minutes later with a left-footed shot off the post and into the net.

He doubled his team's lead from the penalty spot in the 22n and completed his hat-trick in the 38th from Maxwell's cross.

Cavani capped his excellent display with an angled shot into the net to finish off a fine team move.

Milan win 1-0

GENOA: Subsitute Carlos Bacca scored late on to fire AC Milan to a 1-0 win at Sampdoria, moments after the home side had a second goal disallowed on Friday.

Milan broke the deadlock following a costly mistake by Milan Skriniar who gave the ball away to Suso. The Spanish defender found Bacca, who fired across into the far side of the net. It ended a run of two successive losses for Milan.
