Delhi Dynamos coach Roberto Carlos is eager to take as many points as possible from the luxurious home run which beckons upon his team.
The marquee player cum coach will see his side play their next four matches in the home turf after experiencing a tight away schedule so far in the Indian Super league.
Among the six games Dynamos have played, only one took place in Delhi, while the remaining five was played down the road. Dynamos did manage to win that lone home game against Chennayin FC 1-0. Their manager will hope his team will continue to do the same in the next four fixtures as well.
“We have four home games and we will try to get as many points we can from those fixtures,” said the Brazilian legend during a pre-match press conference.
Starting with NorthEast United on Tuesday, Dynamos will then play Mumbai City on sixth November, Atletico De Kolkata on 14th November and Pune City on 19th November.
The game against NorthEast will bear more significance for Delhi as a win will take the hosts to top position. However, Carlos has warned against any complacency and reminded everyone that NEUFC is a top side even though the league table suggests otherwise.
“Sometimes the table doesn’t show the skills of each team. NorthEast is a great team with great players. It will be very tough,” Roberto added.
NEUFC have won just two of the six games this season to remain seventh in the table. Meanwhile, Delhi who narrowly missed the top four places in the inaugural edition, have bounced back strongly after losing their opening match of this season.
Dynamos won four of their last five matches and three of those came down the road. With momentum on their side, there is only one target for the former Real Madrid star. “Our goal is to be the champions.”
The Brazilian also promised that he will play for few minutes on Tuesday. “I will play a little,” he added.
John Arne Riise, a former liverpool left-back, can play both in defence and midfield on the left hand side. However, for Delhi he has so far been playing in the centre of defence. When asked about his preferred position for the Dynamos, Riise replied, “It doesn’t matter where I play. It’s upto Roberto [Carlos to decide my position]. I am enjoying my role so far.”
NorthEast was on the wrong end of a 5-1 thumping against Mumbai in their last game. Despite the result, their manager Cesar Farias remains upbeat. “In this league, all the teams are very even. So every game brings a different story. Against Dynamos, we will look to control the ball and try to keep a clean sheet. We will stay compact and sharpen our attacks,” Farias said.
