Bowlers breathe as Viru retires
Published on:

Much like any other cricketer of his generation, Viru took the sport to become the next Sachin. But the ‘Multan ka Sultan’ as he came to be known later, made a name for himself. Nicknamed ‘Najafgarh ka nawab’, Sehwag is the only Indian to score a triple century and he did it twice. One of India's greatest openers ever, if not the greatest, is also amongst the only two batsmen in the world to score a triple century in Tests and a double century in ODIs. While others played Test cricket slowly, Sehwag's approach towards the game can be described, in his own words, in one single sentence: ‘see the ball, hit the ball’.
