Both teams confident of win

Both India and Australia believe they can win ongoing fourth and final Test here in the Capital. Presently, at 266 for eight, India are four runs ahead with two wickets in hand at stumps on Day Two.

Indian opener Murali Vijay is oozing with confidence after two big hundreds in second and third Tests of the series and a fifty in the ongoing one and believes his side are on a roll and can chase any target. It is interesting. The match is evenly poised right now. It can go either way. It will be crucial as to how many runs the tail-enders score. The wicket is getting slower and lower. The cracks are getting wider and it is really difficult to judge the speed of the deliveries Whatever target they set will be chased. No two ways about it,” Vijay told reporters after the day’s play.

On the other hand, Nathan lyon, who took a five-for on Saturday to give his team a chance to win a Test on the dismal tour, they’re trailing 3-0, believes even 100 runs would be difficult. “We need to bat well tomorrow. Even a 100-run target would be difficult to chase on this track. The wicket is going up and down. We need to bat well and hopefully get a lead of 150-200 runs. It will help us to put the Indians under some pressure,” lyon made the point.

Vijay also felt that though the pitch is difficult to bat on, one can stay at the wicket. “It’s a wicket where scoring runs is extremely difficult. However, it’s not that difficult to stay on the wicket. We did bat well, but in patches. I could have batted a little longer but got out at the wrong time,” the right-hander explained.

lyon also praised stand-in captain Shane Watson. “I love bowling in long spells which I did today. As far as my performance is concerned, Shane told us to get in to the contest, that’s one thing which worked for all of us. His advice helped me in getting five wickets. Also, we were bowling in partnerships, building pressure on the opposition, that’s one thing which we failed to do in the last three Tests,” he said.
