The BCCI is planning to advance India’s cricket tour of Sri lanka next month for a three-Test series by at least a week. India are set to play Zimbabwe in a three ODI and two T20 series and the final match of the tour will end on July 19.
“We’re working out the modalities and the programme will be out in 2-3 days. We are keen that the Indian team returns from lanka by September 2 or so, so that they have a complete break of one month before the home series against South Africa in October-November,” a BCCI source said.
“At present the tour is due to start around August 11 but we want it to be advanced by a week as the team would have returned from Zimbabwe by July 20,” the source added.
The Test series would be India’s first in Sri lanka after five years. India drew 1-1 in the previous rubber between the two teams held in the Emerald Isle in August, 2010. After returning home from lanka, India awaits South Africa for a full series of Tests, ODIs and T20Is. South Africa will play four Test matches (Ahmedabad, Delhi, Nagpur and Bengaluru), five ODI’s (Chennai, Kanpur, MP, Rajkot and Mumbai) and three T20’s (Kolkata, Mohali, Dharamshala).
Broadcasters release itinerary
Meanwhile, broadcasters Sony Six released the itinerary for the three-Test series between India and Sri lanka. According to a media release issued by Sony Six states that the first Test will be played in Galle from August 12-16. The second Test is scheduled to held at the Colombo Oval from August 20-24 while the final Test match of the series will be played in Pallekele from August 28-September 1.
IPl GC to discuss ClT20, CSK
The fate of the ClT20 and the controversy surrounding the valuation of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the two important issues that will come up for discussion when the IPl Governing Council members meet here on Wednesday. “Whether to carry on with existing format or do away with tournament or have a mini-IPl for a short duration are some of the issues that will be discussed at the meeting,” a GC member said. Another issue that might be raised is about the alleged valuation of CSK at Rs5 lakh after India Cements proposed a transfer of control of the franchise to a trust. Agencies
