Bayern Munich to start Bundesliga title defence at Frankfurt

Bayern Munich will start its bid for a record 11th consecutive Bundesliga title with a potentially tricky game away at Europa League winner Eintracht Frankfurt.

Frankfurt has won two of its last three games against Bayern ahead of their meeting August 5, which will kick off the Bundesliga's 60th anniversary season.

The league's 2022-23 schedule, released on Friday, has last season's second-place team Borussia Dortmund opening against Bayer Leverkusen on either August 6 or 7. Of the promoted teams, Schalke visits Cologne and Werder Bremen starts away at Wolfsburg.

There will be more than two months with no games in the middle of the season because of the World Cup in Qatar. The Bundesliga will instead start its winter break November 13 and return January 20.

PSG vs Clermont

Defending champion Paris Saint-Germain begins its bid for a record 11th French league title at modest Clermont in a season where games will be played on New Year's Day.

The opening round is over August 5-7 and the league will have games on January 1 and 2 for the first time because of a break for the World Cup in Qatar.

There will be a six-week hiatus; the winter break starting on November 14 and resuming on December 28 with a midweek round.

PSG shares the record for titles with 10-time champions Marseille and Saint-Etienne, which was relegated last season along with six-time winner Bordeaux.

Clermont finished in 17th place last season to avoid relegation.

PSG could have a new coach when the league begins, with Mauricio Pochettino touted to be replaced.

Marseille was runner-up last season to qualify automatically for the Champions League, and starts the season at home to Reims.

Monaco, which finished third to enter the Champions League qualifying rounds, has a tough match at Alsace-based Strasbourg.
