In its annual general meeting (AGM), the Badminton Association of India (BAI) has fixed the age and tenure for the office bearers.

As per the amended constitution, falling in line with the Government's Sports Code, the BAI president can hold office for a maximum of three terms, with or without a break, of four years each. The secretary general and treasurer can hold office for a maximum of two terms, of four years each. The maximum age limit of any office bearer has been fixed at 70.

Also, in the AGM held here on Saturday, the federation passed another amendment, making only a member of the executive committee eligible to contest for the post of president and secretary general, which is in accordance with the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) constitution.

The sports ministry had earlier asked the IOA and the National Sports Federations (NSFs) to amend their constitutions ahead of May 15 meeting with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in a bid to lift the suspension on India.            PNS
