It is known that India is famous for two “Cs”, one is cinema, and the other is Cricket. The nation’s rich culture in sports has attained massive headlines over the years across the world for more than one reason. Amidst this, when Indian fans get live and close in the stadium with their favourite players, the vibe gets totally different and sometimes even goes wild. Talking about having a wild and cheerful audience, match 45th of the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL) last evening on May 3rd saw one of such incidents, where the downpour happened all of a sudden, and the match was ultimately abandoned.
On one hand, many fans were disappointed as they couldn’t see more of MS Dhoni playing; on the other hand, many others made the most of their time there in the stadium by yelling slogans that read, “Thala Ki Jhalak Sabse Alag,” for MS Dhoni and “Jaddu Ki Jhalak Sabse Alag,” for Ravindra Jadeja. At one point, Aakash Chopra, the commentator, too, exclaimed the same slogans and added more enthusiasm among the crowds.
People wanted to see the match live and enjoy what was going to take place between Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants, but rains played a spoilsport at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, and LSG could only play up to 19.2 overs making 125/7 in the first innings. The crowd went crazy thereafter when the downpour happened, and the cheering only got louder with time for their love for MS Dhoni, their “Thala,” and, of course, his team CSK, donning yellow clothes, waving flags and the like.
Tons of others danced their hearts out in the rain to the tunes of the DJ, who played some of the most happening songs and even roared with others saying, “Lucknow Ki Jhalak”, and the audience thundered, “Sabse Alag.” The 45th IPL 2023 match was indeed a one-of-a-kind experience for everyone present at the stadium.
