Anand loses to Nakamura in london Classic

Five-time World Champion Viswanathan Anand suffered a defeat at the hands of Hikaru Nakamura of United States in the fourth round of london Chess Classic here on Tuesday.

Not finding it easy to play against Nakamura once again, this was Anand’s sixth loss against the American in Classical chess and the Indian ace will now have to do a lot of hard work to catch up in the last five rounds.

Anish Giri of Holland, Maxime Vachier-lagrave of France and Nakamura share the top spot on 2.5 points in this $30,000 prize money tournament. With five rounds still to come, Anand slipped to ninth spot in the ten-player round-robin event but is only a full point behind the leading pack.

Chennai: The family of Anand threw open the doors of its house here to some rain-affected people of nearby slums, providing them accommodation, food and clothes.

"What we did is just small. There are many people who have done more than what we have done," Anand's wife Aruna said.
