Bowling sensation Mohammad Amir was rested as he did not take part in the team nets session here on the eve of Paksitan’s match between New Zealand.
The 23-year-old, who has struck fear into opposition eyes with his deadly pace bowling, has been in good form recently.
He has three wickets so far in World T20, which was followed by an impressive seven wickets in the Asia Cup, including a 3/18 against India.
Although he did not bowl in the nets on Monday. A coaching staff of Pakistan team said he was just rested and has no injury worries.
Apart from him, the rest of the session was a normal one as both batsmen and bowlers spending valuable practice time. Among the batsmen, Shoaib Malik and Umar Akmal batted till the end.
Akmal had a decent outing against India last time around with a 16-ball 22 runs and so was Malik with a well constructed 26. They both will look to build on it against New Zealand today.
For the Kiwis, Henry Nicholls, a left hander, was heavily involved in the nets.
He batted for a long while and came up with some good strikes.Among other surprises, Kane Williamson — a power-hitter — was spending extra time in bowling. If the pitch does turn today in Mohali, Williamson might fancy his chances with the ball, although it looks very unlikely. Southee, apart from his bowling, was also heavily involved with the bat. One of the team coaching staff particularly heaped praise on his drives.
