hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad left-arm pacer Barinder Sran has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee for inappropriate behaviour during their match against Mumbai Indians here on Monday. Sran's conduct was deemed contrary to the spirit of the game by the match referee. Sran admitted to the level 1 offence (Article 2.1.7 of the IPl Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials) and accepted the sanction.

sambhal (up): Six persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in betting in IPl matches, police said on Tuesday. Ravi Kumar, Govinda, Pradeep Kumar, Arun Kumar, Vikram and Monu Raghav were arrested on Monday during an IPl match, they said. ‘Dhawan's footwork is bit slow’

new delhi: Sunil Gavaskar feels that India opener Shikhar Dhawan's slump in form is primarily due to his slow footwork and his tendency to get out cheaply in a few matches at one go is the reason why the Delhi left-hander's failures get highlighted. Asked if there is pressure on Dhawan to perform, Gavaskar told NDTV: "He is constantly under pressure to perform. The problem is when Dhawan fails, he fails in 4-5 matches and people forget the runs that he has scored. He has 9 centuries and around 17 scores of over 50 in limited overs cricket." "He has been successful in every three and half innings, which is very acceptable. But when he fails, he fails in 4-5 innings. What I saw in the IPl, I found his feet are moving a bit slow. I would suggest he does a fair bit of skipping and it would certianly help."

‘told to play as per match situation’

mumbai: Young Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Sarfaraz Khan has been advised to play as per the match situation by captain Virat Kohli. "I have learned a lot from last year to this year. In between there was the under 19 (World Cup tournament) and I was able to learn from Rahul sir (Dravid). I am getting more experience and am able to learn more as Shane Watson too has come into our team," he said. "In the first year I committed some mistakes in IPl. I want to avoid making the same mistakes I made last year. They (seniors) have given confidence. They said this is our first match, you continue to play as you did, but also play as far as possible according to the team situation," he added. He said he was keen to do well at the Wankhede Stadium where he had played in the past for the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team before moving over to Uttar Pradesh. "I will be playing for the first time here for RCB. Our top order batsmen are in form. If I get a chance I will try to play well. If I perform well here where I have played before I do feel good."

‘IPl matches should not be held in Raj’

jaipur: Indian Premier league matches should not be held in Rajasthan as the "drought situation in the state is no different from that in Maharashtra", Congress leader Rameshwar Dudi on Tuesday said. "Cricket matches can take place if the situation is favourable. But the drought and water crisis in the state are same as that in Maharashtra, therefore IPl matches should not be held in Rajasthan," the leader of Opposition said. The government did not do its homework before taking the decision of allowing IPl matches in the state because it lacks own resources and experts, he alleged, adding it is dependent on Rajasthan Cricket Academy which has been in controversy. The Bombay High Court had on April 13 asked the Board of Cricket Control in India to shift all Indian Premier league matches after April 30 from Maharashtra due to acute water crisis in the state. Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur are the three venues in the state scheduled to hold the IPl matches. Maharashtra — home to Rising Pune Supergiants and Mumbai Indians — was to host 13 games after April 30, including the final in Mumbai.
