FIFA scandal suspects released

Beunos Aires: Two Argentines suspected of taking part in the FIFA corruption scandal were released from house arrest, but will remain under surveillance awaiting a decision on their extradition to the United States. Judge Claudio Bonadio placed Hugo Jinkis and his son Mariano under strict police surveillance, and they remained barred from travelling outside the country. The father, 70, and son, 40, run the marketing company Full Play and were among 14 suspects indicted by the US justice department in its investigation of bribery and money laundering surrounding football’s global governing body. The duo had initially fled, but turned themselves in to authorities last week.

Delhi Dynamos sign Adil Nabi on loan

New Delhi: Delhi Dynamos have signed English premier league side West Bromwich Albion’s talented youngster Adil Nabi on loan for the second season of the Indian Super league beginning in October. The signing of the 21-year-old Pakistani origin striker was the first time a player under contract with an EPl club will move to an ISl side on loan. Adil won the hearts of the Baggies supporters last season when he scored 12 goals and set up six others in only 22 games for the youth team. Following an impressive season, he was included in the squad that faced Manchester City and West Ham United last year in the English Premier league.

Spieth loses No.1 ranking to McIlroy

New Jersey: Rory McIlroy will get back to No. 1 in the world ranking after Spieth replaced him two weeks ago. And McIlroy wasn’t even playing this week. Spieth was the big news after two rounds at The Barclays, mainly because he won’t get to play two more rounds. It was the third time this year he has missed the cut, so that’s not unusual. But with rounds of 74-73, it was the first time since the Tour Championship last year that he had consecutive rounds over par, and the first time since March 2014 that he started any tournament with two rounds over par. By the end of the week, Jordan Spieth might be No. 1 in just one major category — the PGA Tour money list. He has earned just under $10.4 million this year, so missing the cut at The Barclays is not likely to keep him up at night.
