Pak think of T20 league in Doha

karachi: A cold response from the Emirates cricket board has left PCB struggling to find a suitable venue for its planned international Twenty20 league in February next year. A PCB official on Friday that efforts to convince the ECB and the organisers of an international Masters league in the UAE to give priority to Pakistan Cricket Board’s own T20 league had failed to draw a positive response. “The project head of the Pakistan International T20 league Sarwar Salman Butt and another senior official Usman Wahla have now gone to Doha in Qatar to explore the possibility of holding our league there next February,” he said. He confirmed that the organisers of the Masters league had booked Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi as venues for their inaugural event.

Manohar to meet Dalmiya

kolkata: Former BCCI chief Sashank Manohar on Friday dropped in at the city to meet current president Jagmohan Dalmiya and discuss the road ahead for the board after suspension of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals by the Supreme Court-appointed Justice lodha Committee. “I have come here to discuss about IPl with the president. The verdict should be honoured,” Manohar told reporters on his arrival at Kolkata airport amidst heavy downpour. Manohar, himself an eminent lawyer, is one of the legal heads in this matter. Manohar’s visit assumes significance as he is likely to apprise the septuagenarian board chief about the possible options for BCCI. Two options that are being deliberated include auction of players with new team bidding and secondly BCCI owning the two teams. Manohar had been a supporter of BCCI adopting the teams and he had expressed his thoughts at an earlier working committee meeting.
