Tendulkar In Clarke’s Top 5

Melbourne: Australian Test captain Michael Clarke considers Sachin Tendulkar as one of the top five greatest cricketers he has played against during his international career. During an interaction on twitter, Clarke revealed that Tendulkar is among five of the best players he played with or against in his career. The other four names he took were bowling greats Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath, Jacques Kallis and Brian lara. Asked to name the quickest bowler he has ever faced, Clarke took Pakistani maverick Shoaib Akhtar’s name. The 34-year-old, however, called England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff as the best bowler he padded up to. In lighter vein, Clarke was asked about the most untidy player in the Australian dressing room and he responded with his predecessor Ricky Ponting’s name.

Windies Tied To 85-3 At lunch

Roseau (Dominica): West Indies reached 85-3 at lunch after opting to bat first against Australia on the opening day of the first cricket test at Windsor Park on Wednesday. Shai Hope, in his second Test, hit a composed 36, while fellow opener Kraigg Brathwaite (10) and Darren Bravo (19) were the other batsmen dismissed. Debutant Shane Dowrich, undefeated on 15, and Marlon Samuels, 3 not out, took the hosts to the interval. Josh Hazlewood, Nathan lyon, and Mitchell Johnson each claimed a wicket. Brathwaite and Hope gave the West Indies a sound start after captain Denesh Ramdin won the toss. BRIEF SCORE: West Indies: 85/3 (Dowrich 10*, Samuels 3*) vs Australia.

Ruben Back In Squad Vs Ind

DHAKA: Pace spearhead Rubel Hossain was on Wednesday named in the Bangladesh squad for the only Test match against India to be played at Fatullah from June 10-14. Rubel, who missed the second Test against Pakistan last month due to a Grade 1 side strain, is fit to play as he replaces an injured Shahadat Hossain. Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim will lead a 14-man side where uncapped wicketkeeper-batsman litton Das has been named as his cover. Rahim, who is recuperating from a finger injury might not keep wickets and that is the reason for naming the 20-year-old in the squad. Squad: Mushfiqur Rahim (captain & keeper), Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Mominul Haque, Mahmudullah, Shakib Al Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Shuvagata Hom, Taijul Islam, Mohammad Shahid, Rubel Hossain, Jubair Hossain, litton Das, Abul Hasan.

Pak Nominates Abbas For Icc

ISlAMABAD: Former Test captain Zaheer Abbas was nominated by Pakistan for ICC president on Wednesday. Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan said he informed ICC chairman N Srinivasan. PCB member Najam Sethi withdrew his nomination on Monday after the ICC asked member boards to encourage nominating ex-Test cricketers for the post. In April, Bangladesh’s Mustafa Kamal resigned as ICC president in protest after blaming the umpires for his national team’s World Cup quarterfinal loss against India. Khan said the board considered several names, including Javed Miandad.

Kohli Wants To Stay Calm

New Delhi: Not willing to part ways with his aggressive mind-set, Virat Kohli is keen to improve as a leader while keeping his emotions in check. Kohli has been criticised for his on-field aggression. He says he can learn a lot from MS Dhoni in that aspect. “There’s no point giving away what you are thinking to the opposition, who can gain unnecessary advantage. I understand that. One of the keys to being a good captain is not letting your emotions come on to your face. That is one of the most important things, which I want to improve on,” Kohli was quoted as saying by The Cricket Monthly.
