DOOR SHUT ON chanderpaul

Kingston: West Indies cricket officially shut the door on Shivnarine Chanderpaul when the name of the team's second highest run-getter was left out of the Test squad set to face Australia on June 3. The selection committee, led by former skipper Clive lloyd, picked a 14-man squad for the first Test in Roseau Dominica and Chanderpaul's name expectedly did not feature in the team. The 40-year-old Guyanan, veteran of 164 Tests, has been a regular member of the Caribbean Test squad since debut in 1994. While Brian lara had backed Chanderpaul and said that his former teammate deserved a farewell series, many former players believe that the veteran's time is up.

No decision on Indo-Pak series

New Delhi: No decision has yet been taken on Indo-Pak cricket series, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said on Sunday. Her remarks came in the backdrop of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan's recent visit to India to push for resumption of Indo-Pak cricket ties. "No decision has been taken. Where has this information come that this (Indo-Pak cricket series) has been decided and that I was not consulted. No decision has been taken," Swaraj said when asked about the reports that India will be playing bilateral cricket series with Pakistan. India have not played a full bilateral Test series with Pakistan after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks which led to suspension of cricketing ties between the two countries.
